Easy Trace for DOS

The Easy Trace for DOS program package was developed as a high-end data input software dealing with different cartographic images and target systems. After more than eight years in the field of multiple type map digitizing, implying users' comments and suggestions as well as our own experience in program application, we have managed to find acceptable solutions to avoid "weak spots" of automated map digitalization. Actually, within the last three years we are focused on wishes of our users who face different real problems.

With the help of Easy Trace v 4.3 for DOS you can:

  • Digitize black-and-white and color (4bit/px) images using an integrated color-separation tool.
  • Process rasters that are much larger than the random access memory (up to hundreds of Mb).
  • Merge initial raster fragments into fields of a considerable size, and therefore use small format scanners or process sheet series together.
  • Reduce non-linear distortions of the hardcopy as well as scanning errors using image transformation based on the grid of reference points.
  • Create and fill in databases of the DBF format separately for point and line objects of every layer.
  • Trace lines of any type: simple, reinforced, dashed, dot, rectangle, special, closed polygons and hatched areas in semiautomatic mode.
  • Digitize images of any quality, using raster filtering means, interactive vectorization mode and powerful vector entity editors.
  • Merge vector segments obtained at separate tracing of project parts, and join polylines at segment boundaries automatically.
  • Create a correct arc-and-node vector data structures, forming nodes and vertices automatically.
  • Copy common vector segments on different vector layers.
  • Control the correctness of the arc-and-node structure using a large set of tests.
  • Assign height (Z-coordinate) to lines automatically, indicate these values with line colors, transfer height values to a database.
  • Process color-separated color layers of hardcopy and load several raster layers simultaneously.
  • Export vector data into formats of many common GIS and CAD: AutoCAD, ArcCAD, ArcInfo, ArcView, Intergraph Microstation, CADdy, MapInfo, GeoDraw/GeoGraph; applications developed by the package users and included into our distributive make export to MapInfo and ArcInfo systems easier.
  • Import vector data from the DXF, DGN, MIF and VCD formats.
  • Spend minimal time for learning - the package provides a 3-hour lecture course, describing all the system abilities, including the entire vectorization cycle - beginning from merging of raster fragments and up to export of vector data.
